Options

We at FAVOR believe that parents deserve options in creating a service model that works for them in supporting their loved ones with special healthcare needs.  The resources below come recommended by our parents.  If you have questions, feel free to ask the contributor!

Of course, these do not constitute medical advice, only options to explore.

Provider Feature

The Provider Feature highlights doctors, dentists, specialists, and therapists who work well with children with special needs.  It can be difficult to find good providers. We want to spotlight the providers who provide exceptional support for our families.

If you’d like to suggest an excellent provider, let us know by visiting our Hidden Gem page.

This month’s feature is Shining Hope Farms an equine assisted therapy program including physical and occupational therapy, speech-language therapy, and mental health counseling. Laurel (pictured here) said her first word on a horse and now looks forward to weekly therapeutic riding sessions. These sessions support the physical, emotional, and social well-being of individuals with special needs. They have three locations in Mount Holly, Conover and Charlotte, NC and accept insurance including Medicaid for many doctor-prescribed services. Call 704-827-3788.

Funding Feature

The Funding Feature highlights places to get funding for your wish list for your child with special needs. So many families would love to do more for their children with special needs if they could find the funds.

If you have been blessed to find funding for a need for your child, let us know by visiting our Hidden Gem page.

This month’s feature is Bee Mighty, an organization that gives grants to families of children who spent time in the NICU. They offer grants for children for developmental therapy and equipment not covered by insurance, and grants for mental health counseling for parents. My triplets were able to receive valuable MNRI therapy for reflex integration that wasn’t covered by Medicaid through a grant from Bee Mighty.
